This web site is devoted to our VW transporter and the adventures we have had in it. It was built in Sept 1963 and served the United Glass Works factory fire brigade in Mannheim Germany from new until it was put out to pasture 27 years later. It had 9,345 kms on it at that time, which works out to 500 kms per year average. The van is now 50 years old and we, the second owners, have driven it to 98,000 kms. It still has the original paint and engine.
If you are looking for facts or statistics about how to build a crumple zone, I'm sorry, but the search engines led you astray here. This web site is about what it's like to drive one, not build one.
